As someone who spent over 10 years of his adult life constructing residences for many people in Golden Gate Estates, and as a past president of the Golden Gate Estates Civic Association, I am writing to urge your support of the Estates shopping center on the November ballot.
The project is one that will provide Estates residents with a sustainable site with lakes and wooded areas, an integral component of the Estates. After several meetings and working through issues important to the surrounding residents, the project has received over 1,800 letters of support. This project, supporting the central part of the Estates, will provide a site large enough to support a suitable main anchor grocery store, extremely important to the success of the center.
Yes, there is another proposed commercial site on Randall Boulevard; however, it will serve the future needs of northern Golden Gate Estates, and the Orangetree, Waterways, Valencia Lakes and Orange Blossom Ranch planned unit developments (PUDs).
Some say keep commercial development out of the Estates, but many residents moved to the Estates because it was the only place they could afford and still live in Collier County. Those people want to have similar services as other residents throughout the urban area have. Let the voters decide.
Support the Estates shopping center.
