We are happy to report that on September 14, 2011, the Collier County Commissioners voted 4-1 to approve the Comprehensive Master Plan Amendment and CPUD rezone petition needed to move forward with the Estates Shopping Center at the corner of Wilson and Golden Gate Boulevards.
This has been a long journey. We started in 2005 and since then, we have had more than twenty public meetings and a straw vote in November 2010 where the public overwhelmingly supported the project. We also had countless meetings and hearings before county officials. However, the process still has a few more steps before we can have a groundbreaking celebration, and we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the process going forward.
In the next few months, we will be meeting with a number of major grocery store chains and local retailers to negotiate leases. If you have any questions about leasing opportunities, please call us at 877-463-5889. Doing business with our neighbors, creating economic opportunity and creating jobs are part of what this project is all about.
After the grocery store lease is negotiated, we will start work on the “Site Development Plan,” which is the engineering related documents and site layout for the shopping center. Those plans will be submitted to various state and local authorities such as the South Florida Water Management District and Collier County for final approval. Once the Site Development Plan is approved, we will proceed to apply for our building permits.
As you can see, we still have work to do. Thank you for your continued support. We will keep you updated with exciting news as tenants sign leases and become a proud addition to the Estates Shopping Center.
