Editor, Daily News:

I read with interest the article headlined “Community weighs shopping center” regarding the proposed 41-acre shopping center at Golden Gate and Wilson boulevards in Golden Gate Estates.

I am in full support of this project because of the large grocery store it will bring to me.

My property line is a block away from this development on the east side of Wilson Boulevard. A growing community needs growing services to exist comfortably. Further, this development is a first-class example of an asset to the Estates community! We need it and deserve it.

I am tired of wasting gas and time enduring traffic just to get a gallon of milk.

A lot of hard-working families have built homes and live in Golden Gate Estates. However, we must travel several miles each way for basic goods and services such as a major grocery store, banks, restaurants, day care for children, video stores, post office, coffee and ice cream shops.

Other residents throughout Collier County have the convenience of going to the local grocery store in just a couple minutes. Why not the Estates? We already have four-lane highways, six schools, EMS and fire stations and public libraries. Why not our own local shopping center?

The faster this project gets built, the better off we all will be. You can bet that I will be at the polls on Nov. 2 to vote “yes” on this shopping center.
