Community Support for Estates Shopping

The design for this community shopping center was greatly influenced by local residents whose input was sought during the planning process. As such, the Estates Shopping Center will meet the needs of residents who want to preserve the Old Florida charm and semi-rural setting of Golden Gate Estates and provide services for current and future residents.

Throughout a series of public outreach meetings and surveys, the community has repeatedly shown overwhelming support for the shopping center.

- A survey was tabulated by an independent accounting firm and mailed to more than 5,500 property owners. Of the 1,632 returns, 83 percent stated they supported the shopping center.

- An opinion poll conducted by the local newspaper reported 65 percent of those who participated supported the project.

- Since February 2009, the Collier County Commission has received nearly 2,000 letters of support from Golden Gate Estates residents.
